2010 Concerts |
||
Street Concert Success The Brue Boys performed fourteen songs in a concert held in Street Parish Church on Friday 26th November. Helen Forsey accompanied the boys on the piano and as usual we were led by Conductor Jennifer Martin. The concert raised money for the new charity CHALISS which supports counseling services for young people and is presently based at St Dunstan's Community School. Refreshments were kindly donated by Bob Burns from his famous Burns the Bread local bakery. As well as many old favourites, the boys premiered the Paul Simon song 'Sound of Silence', and were supported by The Brue Valley Ringers who presented four tunes, and by Gail Cornish who again delighted us with some lovely songs, accompanied by Helen on the piano. We hope to publish pictures of the concert here soon. |

Ditcheat School Concert |
A group of Brue Boys sang for an assembly at Ditcheat Primary School on 5th October 2010. Ditcheat is one of the local schools we have supported by donating funds for their music education. Ditcheat spent their funds on percussion instruments, including the colourful drums which are shown right. |

Friday 2nd July The Brue Boys sang thirteen songs at a concert held in Baltonsborough Village Hall which raised funds for St Margaret's Hospice. Unfortunately a rare damp early evening (in a beautiful hot dry summer!) brought us inside rather than on the adjoining playing field. We were all put in an upbeat mood by the local jazz band 'The Grey Dogs' who performed with gusto before, during and after the concert. We were treated to several lively songs from Gail Cornish, with the Grey Dogs and later beautifully accompanied on the harp by Carolyn Young. The Brue Valley Handbell Ringers gave us some good tunes and are now an accomplished group in only their second year. |

The weather improved as the evening wore on, so we were able to go outside and enjoy brilliant refreshments with many items generously donated for this worthy charity event. These included Orchard Pig's hog roast and soft drinks, Andrew Moon's sausages, baps from Burns the Bread, cheese and butter from Goulds and chutneys from Rose Farm. All in all a summer's night feast with a variety of summer music. |
