2022 Annual Dinner on Friday 1st April |
Report and photos from David Hislop The Brue Boys Annual Dinner was held on 1st April at the Mendip Golf Club. Due to the covid pandemic this was the first dinner to be held since 2019 and those that attended thoroughly enjoyed getting together after this enforced break. The evening commenced with a tasty dinner accompanied by a mildly mind-taxing quiz. David Hislop compèred the evening and introduced the post dinner cabaret comprising talented artistes eager to put on a show. Ian Poynter amused with some Flanders and Swan, David Chambers entertained with his impression of Fagan from “Oliver,” John Longman performed songs from Gershwin and Charlie Chaplin. All of these songs were accompanied by Hilde Senior and David Hislop joined her with his guitar to provide the annual dose of Elvis Presley. Jackie Gingell gave a poem describing her experiences in being a choir wife and groupie followed by Martin Flanagan with his amusing tale of Murphy’s Sick Note and Bob Burns described the skill of baking in song accompanied on guitar by Martin Wride. An enjoyable evening for all. |
